A condensate pump is a small component with a big responsibility. Choosing the right one prevents callbacks, noise complaints and water damage. Here is what our engineers recommend checking.
1. Discharge head and the real flow rate
Maximum flow rates are measured at zero head. As the vertical lift increases, the flow decreases. Check the pump's performance at the actual lift of the installation, and allow a margin for the horizontal run. Aqualis lifting pumps offer up to 15 m of discharge head.
2. How the sound level is measured
A sound level only means something if the measurement distance is stated. Aqualis specifies noise at one metre — for example ≤ 16 dB(A) on the AD-CY01 and AD-BU01 — so that figures can be compared on a like-for-like basis.
3. A safety contact wired into the unit
If the pump cannot evacuate water, the reservoir level rises. A high-level safety contact, wired into the air conditioner's control circuit, stops the unit before an overflow. Check the contact rating: Aqualis lifting pumps use a 3 A contact.
4. Reservoir, hygiene and serviceability
Stagnant water encourages biofilm and odours. Look for reservoir protection — Aqualis uses silver-ion antibacterial beads in its lifting-pump reservoirs — and for designs that are easy to inspect, such as the translucent reservoir of the AD-GE01.
5. Format and installation space
The best pump is the one that fits cleanly. A monobloc such as the 132 mm AD-CY01 suits tight spaces around the indoor unit; a two-piece design such as the AD-BU01 separates the reservoir from the pump for low ceiling voids; the AD-GE01 integrates into standard 80 × 60 mm trunking.
